The Romance language family is facing its most significant restructuring in centuries following a formal filing for divorce by Italian this past weekend. The move to separate from the linguistic lineage stemming from Latin comes after what representatives describe as irreparable differences with Spanish and French.

A spokesperson for the Italian language cited unresolved historical grievances dating back to the Italian Wars of the 15th and 16th centuries. The representative specifically targeted Spanish, questioning its claim to the "Romance" title while pointing to significant deviations from Latin roots. Among the complaints were the disappearance of certain verb endings and the substitution of the Latin "et" with the Spanish "y."

Relations among the language groups have reportedly deteriorated over the past several months. Sources close to the proceedings indicated that the encroachment of ravioli into French and Spanish territories played a central role in the escalation. A representative for the French language expressed steep opposition to the expansion, stating that they were prepared to say "non bon voyage" to the movement of the pasta-based product across their borders.

Observers in the linguistics community have noted that the friction is not limited to Italian. Spanish and French have reportedly faced their own internal disputes regarding the proper use of accent marks and the pronunciation of vowels. One individual familiar with the matter described an incident in which a French speaker swore to seek "revanche" over differences in phonetic emphasis.

While many have questioned the future of Italian outside of the traditional Romance structure, proponents of the split have already announced plans for a new linguistic grouping. The proposed family, tentatively titled the "Ravioli" languages, is expected to center on distinct rhythmic patterns and specific culinary terminology. Organizers indicated that preparations for a celebratory dinner are currently underway to mark the founding of the new group.

Regional experts have kept a close eye on the developments, noting that the separation has Been anticipated in various international business circles for some time. Reports suggest that Romanian, often described as the most earnest member of the remaining Romance group, may be the most affected by the sudden departure of its cousin.

However, the move has not been met with universal sympathy. Critiques within the linguistic community have suggested that Italian's decision stems from an elitist perspective. Some have gone as far as to describe the language as a "science experiment," claiming it lacks the natural evolution shared by its Celtic, Germanic, and Slavic counterparts. Despite these accusations, the formal process for the separation continues to move forward in international cultural courts.
